Individual Counselling

Most individuals develop depression at some point in their lives. The symptoms of depression include a lack of motivation and interest in life, loss of energy and appetite, an increased need for sleep, a despondent feeling, and generally withdrawing from society. In more severe cases depression can produce suicidal thoughts.

There are different approaches therapists follow when helping people with depression, including cognitive behavioural therapy, life line, the spiritual journey, and developing self-love.

During counselling I use the type of therapy and approach that best suits that particular person. In a caring, understanding way I try to form a "picture of depression". By doing this we can learn how to deal with the negative thoughts that come with depression and try to regain happiness. I encourage each individual to use their own unique skills as they move on the road to recovery.

Anxiety & Stress

People exhibit different types of anxieties in different situations, for example speaking in public, meeting new people, or driving to unfamiliar places. Worries and anxieties can become obsessive, with the symptoms of anxiety, including very anxious thoughts and an unpleasant body sensation, become persistent and potentially leading to panic attacks.

Counselling and therapy can help someone with anxiety understand their fears and manage the anxiety. There are techniques that can teach your body and mind to be calm and present.

Body Image & Eating Disorders

Society and the media often dictate how we should look and how we feel about our self-image. And we can choose to either submit to this prescribed body image or come to respect our own unique body image.

Counselling can help you to realise your personal body image preferences and likes, and make you aware of the hurdles you may have put in place which will prevent you from reaching realistic self-image goals.

Confidence & Low Self-Esteem

Self-esteem defines your level of happiness and achievements in life. Self-esteem and confidence also defines the dynamics in your relationships. A healthy self-esteem gives you the freedom to make your own choices and follow a path of your own making. Poor or low self-esteem can lead to frustration, anxiety, depression and unhappy relationships.

A counsellor will facilitate a respectful, supportive and safe environment for you to explore the roots of your negative or poor self-esteem. You can learn how to build confidence and develop a positive self-image.

We invite you to share your feelings with us to bloom your life with happiness forever.
